If you inquire about reflexology, what do you inquiry about.....
What to do to prepare for a session?
If your session is in your home for reflexology, please have a towel to go over the reflexology chair that I bring, a pillow for under your calves, and a blanket to keep you warm since your body temperature may decrease as we get into the treatment.
If possible, taking a bath or shower before I arrive prepares you for the session.
How long is a reflexology treatment?
Foot reflexology is typically 45 to 60 minutes. Hand, ears and face reflexology are typically 15 to 30 minutes each.
What can I expect during a treatment?
It is different for each person.
Some people fall asleep.
Others like to breathe through and provide feedback as to which areas are more tender than others.
If there are reflexes which are tender, this may be at that specific area but not anywhere else. These sore areas may even feel like sand or crystals. They are calcium deposits or energy blockages. Reflexology aims to soften and lessen these.
What to expect after treatment?
After a treatment, you may feel lightheaded, relaxed, sleepy or revitalized. Some people feel like going to sleep or like walking on a cloud. I recommend taking it easy right after treatment and keeping hydrated and more self care until the next treatment. For example taking a Himalayan salt bath before you go to bed or day after treatment.
In the next day or two or even three, the body may say that it wants to rest more or the body may feel like after workout soreness.
Some clients have commented that after a reflexology treatment, it feels like they have had a full body massage or even better.
How do I choose from foot reflexology, hand reflexology, ear reflexology and face reflexology?
Foot reflexology is most common and preferred. However, many find they did not know how much stress is held in the hand or how relaxing and effective an ear or face session can be. All forms can help reduce stress and improve relaxation and circulation and in turn allow the body to return to a state of homeostasis or balance.
We can discuss the best forms of treatment for you prior to starting each treatment.
How often should I be getting sessions?
If there are issues to work on, it is best to have 5 to 8 sessions, once a week.
For maintenance and well being, I recommend at least once a month or every 2 to 3 weeks depending on the person.
My regular clients generally comment about how they are able to do more in their life after their treatments. They feel it is a good investment.
Reflexology or massage therapy?
Reflexology works on the body through communication with the reflexes via our central nervous system. It is very much like reprogramming the entire body, its organs and glands., if the treatment is done thoroughly. Some clients say that it feels better and longer lasting than a massage.
Massage therapy treatments work on the muscle and the range of motion of the joints. No matter what age we are, sometimes we hold stress that prevents us from moving to our best ability. Working on the big muscles of the body helps us throughout our lifetime whether we are at an office or in a physically demanding job, or sedentary, or as an athlete. I also provide self care tips on how to maintain the feel good feeling after our work together.
